RE: New to site

It has been a while since I have posted on the site. You guys have been giving some really good advice. It is good to see that this community is tight. I finally bought a set of adjustable highway pegs. It took some time for me to get the right peg just right. I ended up going to the dealer yesterday to get some help. The tech looked at the left one and made one adjustment to the right one a it was perfect. Rode out of the parking lot and made a 80 mile ride to Gettysburg Pa. Ahh, how nice it is to finally stretch out. I had to remind myself that I do live outside of D.C. Don't want to mess with country roads at night. No more pinching of the seat. What a relief. Weather is still nice around these parts. Going to hook up a charity ride for the Combined Federal Campaign with 40 coworkers to Gettysburg on Oct. 8th. I will keep you guys posted. Until the next post, Ride hard/Ride Safe. Keith

RE: New to site

I agree with both of you. I have been riding since I was 12 but in my late twenties along came my wife and I gave up riding. My first riding experience was on a Kaw 90. It was good to learn on but I out grew it fast and started riding my godfathers Honda 500. I then bought a Honda 650 and stuck with it until I stopped riding. When I decided to get back on the bike I knew that a bigger bike was in order. I took the MSF Class with the mind set that If I did not pass I was not going to ride. It was a one shot deal. So here I am today with the VTX 1300. Once you get your, confidence and you will quickly, you will want to move up. Everyone should keep two things in mind. 1. Don't get anything more than you have to or than you can handle. (Consider when and where you will be riding, your purpose for riding). 2. There are only two kinds of riders: Those that have been down and those that are going down. Once you have gone down, you will have a healthier respect for what you are riding. Look around and you will know who they are... Which one are you? The decision should be easy.

RE: New to site

I like my VTX 1300C a lot. This is he largest bike that I have owned. The last bike was a 650 Night Hawk in 1983. My only complaint with the VTX is that I get a pinching in the rear end from the seat after several miles in the saddle (If you know what I mean). I just bought highway bars and will be ordering highway pegs this week. I have been told that it should solve the problem by allowing me to stretch out better. I will change the saddle if that does not work. Other than that the bike performs well. I am very please with my purchase. The gas mileage is about 48 mpg city/highway. $12 to $13 to fill up. My wallet is loving it. I drive 40 miles to work one way. Couldn't see buying anything smaller. Just the right amount of power to get the job done. Small enough to handel in the city. Juliusc: What ever you decide, enjoy it.

Just in to wave a hand and rev my engine. I just got back into riding after being in a four wheeler for twenty two years. After dropping $160 a week into my gas tank, I knew it was time. Just bought '08 VTX 1300c a few weeks ago. What are the best highway bars to get? I am 6' 4" and need to stretch out when I ride.
